Kitchen - Urmston Sandra & Mark
We met our clients just before building works started to extend the back of their home, and reconfigure existing kitchen and dining areas into a single open-plan space.
The design consisted of a run of restful cashmere painted tall units that concealed carefully configured storage, and some pretty open shelving to soften the overall look.
We added a contrasting island to complement the anthracite bi-fold doors and dining table.
The aim was to achieve a sleek and linear design, but at the 11th hour, just two weeks before the kitchen was due to be installed, disaster struck!
Revised structural calculations determined that the size of retained nib from the old back wall needed to be increased significantly.
After deliberations, we tweaked the design and made the tall units deeper. A new unit was built around and completely concealed, the pesky nib. Panic over!
The result, a delightful light-filled space. Perfect, especially when the sun is shining, the bi-folds are open, there are flowers on the table and the birds are singing in the garden.
