Kitchen Amy & Simon

We created this unique kitchen for clients who were restoring an imposing Victorian home. Our brief was to empathise with and enhance original features, which included the fabulous tiled floor and built-in floor-to-ceiling storage cupboards.

We suggested a heritage shaker door to complement the original cupboards, and used a single colour - Farrow & Ball Inchyra Blue - to bring everything together.

A simple shelf above the range was added, along with a backlit gin shelf to add a modern twist.

The house does have a separate dining room but we were asked to squeeze in some seating. A table was impractical so we incorporated a clever seating perch next to the breakfast pantry. It’s perfect for family members, who all grab a bite to eat in the morning but sit down at different times.

We resisted the temptation to include wall units, which would have ‘closed in’ what is essentially a galley kitchen. Instead, we optimised storage space by making the breakfast pantry deeper, and reconfigured shelving within the original tall units.
